UFC 98 Machida vs Rashad

in case you didn't know, Rampage has to get jaw surgery, can't fight. which REALLY sucks because i was looking forward to Rampage getting his ass kicked. i'm sick of all the hype. he looked like crap against griffin and jardine. he doesn't learn from his mistakes... Rashad would've absolutely dominated Page...

as for the match, i really don't know. everyone on here probably knows Machida is my favorite fighter. but, Rashad is pretty much flawless. he doesn't leave himself open for much. i think Rashad has more explosive power and could get the KO, HOWEVER, i think in general, Machida will be the better fighter and get the decision (not that he doesn't have a chance of a finish.)

my breakdown:
machida decision: 45%
rashad decision: 10%
machida finish: 10%
rashad finish: 35%

which ultimately says each fighter's chance of winning in my opinion is:
machida: 55%
rashad: 45%

But Rashad is a tough match up for him and might be able to get the KO, but I'm rooting for Machida.

I'll write my official breakdown in May.

Apparently he sustained the jaw injury in his fight against Wanderlei.. don't know why he didn't get it fixed then.

i think it was due to the amount of smack he talked after the fight to rashad. apparently his jaw is weaker than his mouth.



EDIT: i was wrong, sorry. it was sustained during an after party incident. he thought he could deep throat rashad evans' phallic object. apparently, just like finishing fights, he was wrong.

I gotta go with Machida on this one but I say this is probably the one of the most even match ups I have seen in quite awhile.

I don't know enough to make a good pick. I am watching the videos on the site right now. I am just gonna go with Rashad off of his latest fights....late first round knock out or Early second round knockout. He has gotten pretty amazing lately.

I see Machida picking Rashad apart kind of like how Forrest was doing, until he got caught taken down and punished by Evans. I don't see Machida getting caught, so it will be a 49-46 in favor of the new champion Lyoto "the dragon" Machida.

Now i may change my mind in an hour, so don't hold me to it.

Let's just say that Mitch is lucky that Jardine didn't submit Rampage in their fight.

i never realized how underrated rashad really is... geesh... forrest picking him apart??? it just took rashad time to adjust to the reach and find timing. i never once thought rashad a chance of losing when watching the fight.
